Tree work in Valentine
Green Point bush and the landslip
A section of the Green Point walking track entered from Valentine is temporarily closed following a recent landslip event, with fencing and signs keeping people out. Slopes that move are worth keeping in mind on yards that fall toward the lake.
Volunteers there weed and pull vines but do not plant, because the bush regenerates naturally from seeds in the plants and the soil. On the yards beside it, self-sown seedlings come up the same way and are easiest to deal with while small.

Valentine questions
Storm years on the lake
Did the April 2015 storm reach Valentine?
Yes. Around Lake Macquarie, Eleebana and Valentine were among those with trees down, along with damaged homes, cars and boats.
Which jobs kept the SES busiest in May 2022?
In the Lake Macquarie windstorm late that month, the SES reported that the bulk of its jobs were trees on roads and trees on houses or other buildings.
When is a storm tree the council's problem?
When it is on public land, such as the reserve or the verge. A tree on a private yard is the owner's to deal with.
