Tree removal in Lorn
Tree removal, pruning and stump grinding in Lorn, inside the Lorn heritage conservation area and behind its levee.
Tree work in Lorn
A heritage suburb inside its own levee
Lorn is covered by the Lorn heritage conservation area, listed in the Maitland Local Environmental Plan. Maitland City Council sets the rules for a tree in that area, and they are checked for each address before work is quoted.
The plan lists “Warrane” and grounds as a local heritage item, so the garden setting is part of the listing as well as the house. A tree on a listed property is worth raising at the first call.

Scope, timber, stump and date on one page, and nothing is booked until you have said yes.

Lorn questions
When the levee is tested
How safe is Lorn in a flood?
A Maitland flood historian writes that the Lorn levee will only be overtopped in a huge flood, once backwater has already come in from downstream. Soft ground after any big rain is still the time to watch for trees starting to lean.
Has the area been evacuated before?
In June 2007, when a levee was feared breached, approximately 6000 people were evacuated from Maitland. Fallen trees from a time like that are cleared once the water has gone.
Can an old garden tree be pruned rather than removed?
Often. Pruning is a sensible first step for an old garden tree, taking off dead wood and limbs over the roof while it keeps its shape.
