Tree work in Cameron Park

New houses cut into bushland

Fire and Rescue NSW, RFS volunteers and council staff burnt 38 hectares of bushland at Cameron Park to bring down built up fuel next to hundreds of homes. The bush is that close to the back fences.

Even the middle of the suburb is still mostly bush in places. For one site in its heart, council told the developer to complete a biodiversity development assessment report on the flora and fauna before building.

How it works

From the first message to a written quote

The council question is settled before any price, and nothing is booked until you have said yes to a quote in writing.

Cameron Park questions

Conservation zones and fire clearing

Which Cameron Park land is zoned for conservation?

A planning proposal lined up the 7(2) Conservation (Secondary), industrial and infrastructure zone boundaries at Cameron Park with the lot boundaries. Land in that conservation zone is not ordinary garden.

Can trees beside the house be cleared for bushfire?

If the block is in a 10/50 entitlement area, trees within 10 metres of a home may be cleared, and shrubs further out. The RFS asks owners to recheck on the day you are clearing.

Does a native tree need an application?

Lake Macquarie City Council says one may be required before pruning or removing a native tree or Araucaria pine species on private land.
